Environment

We work to create the industry's lowest CO2 footprint. We have therefore chosen not to use metal or aluminum but primarily certified (EDP) Finnish plywood and CO2 is stored in wood, so your environmental footprint starts relatively low with our solution.

Furthermore, our interiors are often (1:1 comparison) significantly lighter than the alternatives, which in turn can reduce CO2 either through reduced gasoline/diesel consumption or longer range in the case of electric cars. A final environmental element is that our customers can often go down a car size due to our ability to optimize space through our revolutionary solution with double floor and two sliding doors

As part of our large customer concept, we can calculate the carbon footprint of your current solution and our recommendation. This is based on the base material of the interior. If we just look at the difference in the CO2 footprint of the raw materials metal, aluminum and plywood, it looks like this.

Health and safety

The van is the user's daily workplace, which is why we have a strong focus on work environment and safety.

The working environment is, among other things, about ergonomics, meaning that there is no physical wear and tear or injury to the car user. A very important element is that the user does not need to crawl into the car or do unnecessary lifting, stretching and pulling.

We have designed our raised double floor where long drawers provide easy access to materials and we always recommend sliding doors on both sides of the vehicle so that the user never has to enter the vehicle.

Furthermore, the double floor provides a low centre of gravity and a safe and comfortable driving experience. The plywood has no sharp edges and is temperature neutral and pleasant to touch with bare hands.

Sound is also part of the work environment and driving experience. A plywood van racking system is significantly more sound-absorbing than metal and aluminum van racking.

Finally, our van racking system is crash tested at the highest level by an independent institute and therefore we also provide a 10-year warranty.

Efficiency and space

This is a key element, as a work van is caught in a challenge between always having enough tools and materials, using the smallest possible car model, and tying up the least possible working capital in their vans in connection to tools and materials, etc. At Rico, we are experts in creating an efficient and optimized work van that optimally balances this challenge.

Weight

When talking about work vans, weight is an important element and there are several reasons for this. There is a CO₂ correlation between any material and the number of kilograms of the material.

Furthermore, lower weight means less fuel consumption and longer range on electric cars. A final element is gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR), requiring a Commercial Driver’s Licence with a GVWR of more than 3500 kg. The increasing number of electric vans increases the relevance of this element, as electric vehicles are significantly heavier due to the battery, and with racking, tools and materials, it's not far to the permitted total weight. In many cases, our racking systems are about 40% lighter than competitors' solutions.
